
Leona Louise Lewis, born on 3 April 1985 is an actor musician, activist, and singer from Britain. Born and raised within the London Borough of Islington, she went to her school at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in Croydon. Lewis was recognized as a national star as she won the third season on The X Factor 2006 and got a deal worth PS1,000,000 with Syco music. An original Kelly Clarkson song"A Moment Like This" was her winning song. The song racked up 50,000 digital downloads in less than 30 minutes, and peaked at the top of the charts for the duration of four weeks. In February 2007 Lewis has signed a deal for five albums with the United States with Clive Davis's record label J Records. Lewis's success continued with the release of her debut studio album, Spirit (2007), which was certified 10x platinum in the UK and was the fourth-highest-selling album of the 2000s and one of the albums that sold the highest in UK chart record-setting. As per the Official Charts Company, Spirit is the most-sold debut album by female singers at the turn of the century. The lead single, "Bleeding Love", had a run of seven weeks at the top of the charts at one in the UK and was the highest-priced single in the year 2007. In the US it was also the top-selling single in the year and Lewis was proclaimed Best New Artist by Billboard that year. In 2009 she released her sophomore studio album, Echo as well as recorded the title track, "I See You" in the movie Avatar. Lewis's hit single "Collide," was an collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii as well as Hurt the EP, her debut extended performance. Her third studio album, Glassheart (2012), was a departure in direction for Lewis who draws in dubstep as well as electronic music. She began to record material for her debut Christmas album while on her Glassheart Tour, which took between mid-2013. Christmas, With Love came out in the latter half of 2013. Its single lead One More Sleep reached the top spot on the charts in the UK. By releasing this chart entry Lewis became the first British female solo artist to break into the top 5 with eight singles. This was more than Olivia Newton-John's record of seven.
